Dr Samuel Kim reprimanded by NSW Medical Council

Dr Kim promoting Esoteric Breast Massage for Universal Medicine

Lung specialist and Universal Medicine promoter Dr Samuel Kim has been reprimanded by the NSW Medical Council for professional misconduct. The action is the outcome of a NSW Health Care Complaints Commission investigation of a complaint made several years ago by ‘Patient A’, a woman with serious and debilitating illness who can’t be identified for legal reasons. The complaint arose from Dr Kim’s inappropriate prescribing and his referral of the patient to Universal Medicine practitioners for untested ‘therapies’. Dr Kim is an avid promoter of Universal Medicine and its leader Serge Benhayon.

Goonellabah based alternative medicine racket and religion, Universal Medicine, was singled out for its unethical practices, bogus therapeutic claims, and shameless promotion and endorsement by religiously invested medical professionals.

Late last year NSW State Parliament’s Health Care Complaints Committee called for public submissions to an inquiry into the promotion of false and misleading health related information and practices. The aim was to examine the government’s response to organizations providing health services and misleading members of the public in ways that pose a risk to their health. The Universal Medicine cult’s hierarchy of investors, including the cult doctors, made two submissions proudly advertising their persistent delivery of false and misleading information, luring vulnerable patients into their commerce in harm.

It’s taken three posts just to get through Esoteric Practitioners’ breaches of their own code of conduct, and the worst offenders were the EPA hierarchy. Seeing the Universal Medicine cult is struggling with the concepts of transparency and accountability, we’ll help them out by pointing out the blatant omissions in Serge Benhayon’s spherical code, and ask them again to address questions which would reassure the public of their frequently cited but utterly elusive ‘integrity’. We’ve also received clarification from the NSW Health Minister on what constitutes treatment room assault, and it’s not looking great for Serge.

Crackpot Code of Ethics Breaches Part 3: Esoteric Practitioners & Insurance Fraud

The Universal Medicine cult’s Esoteric Practitioners Association Code of Ethics and Conduct states that none of the Esoteric modalities are registered for a Medicare or private health insurance benefit. We can safely say they never will be, yet patients have told us they’ve received piss-take Esoteric treatments and had the receipts written up as claimable services – an Esoteric practice known in the real world as insurance fraud. We’d like to know what the EPA plans to do about it, or will errant practitioners be subject to internal disciplinary proceedings typical of the cult – with zero public accountability.

The Esoteric Practitioners Association Pty Ltd was inaugurated in 2009, but up until a week ago, its website was under construction and its Code of Ethics and Conduct, touted to be the highest standard in the world, had never been made public. As a document packed with Universal Medicine’s absurdist cultic authoritarianism, and as a list of the cult’s misdemeanours and double standards, it doesn’t disappoint. In this second part of a series on the crackpot code, we look at the UM’s attempts to evade accountability as well as sections on undue influence and mental health. Members of the public need only read a few posts on this site to find a catalogue of EPA members’ breaches of their own code.  

The Esoteric Practitioners Association Crackpot Code of Conduct Part 1: Breaches

For years, the Universal Medicine cult has been telling its followers that the Esoteric Practitioners Association has the ‘highest code of conduct’ of any practitioner association in the world. The newly released document leaves no mystery as to why those of the ‘utmost integrity’ took four years to make it public. The Code of Ethics and Conduct is remarkable for its absurdity and its omissions, and superbly highlights Serge Benhayon and his acolytes’ numerous breaches of their own code, showing Esoteric Practitioners for what they ‘truly are’ – harmful hypocrites.

Indemnity insurance doesn’t indemnify abuse

The Universal Medicine cult loves to gloat in its publicity that all its healing modalities are fully insured. However, the policy wording of a standard complementary medicine therapy indemnity insurance policy from Universal Medicine’s insurer, W. R. Berkley, specifically excludes molestation and psychological abuse. For the Benhayon family  ‘healers’ and all of the Esoteric Breast Massagers this means they are paying for insurance for nothing. Given the abusive nature of their ‘modalities’, none of their practices are insured, but that shouldn’t deter their victims from pursuing a class action to seek compensation for damages.

Universal Medicine students undertake Esoteric healing workshops under the apprehension that completing a certain set of courses will enable them to become an ‘accredited’ Esoteric healer through Universal Medicine’s own accreditation body, the Esoteric Practitioners Association. The UniMed cult claims the EPA has the highest ethical standards of any practitioner association in the world, yet provide the public with no information on what those standards are. Nor is the EPA a registered training body, which begs the question, what does Esoteric accreditation mean? What are EPA members paying for?
